What is a Break of Market Structure (BOS)?

A Break of Market Structure (BOS) happens when price breaks a smaller internal swing in the opposite direction of the current move. This shows that momentum is slowing down and that the market may be preparing for a reversal or a deeper pullback. BOS gives traders an early signal that the current direction is weakening before a full structural change becomes obvious.

Instead of waiting for a major break, BOS helps traders notice the first signs of pressure building on the opposite side. It often appears when price reaches a liquidity area or after a strong push begins to lose strength. This makes it easier to understand when the market is shifting its focus from one side of liquidity to the other.

In the HuntsPip system, BOS works well with Order Block and Liquidity Sweep features. When these elements line up with an BOS, traders get a clearer picture of where a new move may begin and where stronger reactions are likely to happen.

How to configure BOS?

Type of Structure - Choose between Conservative or Aggressive structure detection.

• Conservative: Uses candle close to confirm structure breaks. A bullish break requires the candle to close above the previous high, while a bearish break requires close below the previous low. This method is conservative and provides higher-quality signals with fewer false signals.
• Aggressive: Uses candle high/low to confirm structure breaks. A bullish break triggers when high touches above the previous high and a bearish break triggers when the low touches the previous low. This method provides earlier signals but may generate more false signals.
